Cantigas, or Orin, are sacred songs in African languages (in this album, Yoruba, Kimbundu, and Portuguese) and are a means of direct communication with the Orixas. They represent the exaltation of faith through the elements of nature and humanity and celebrate the struggle and resistance of Black people in the diaspora. Cantigas are also the art of encounter, acceptance and respect.
